Being one the richest, most advanced nations in the world, America and Americans enjoy certain advantages other nations don’t. Electronic goods, televisions, air conditioners and cars are necessities here, where elsewhere they would be the privilege of a select few. Another ‘necessity’ for the average American in 2010 is the internet is all its avatars. Online news, email music and television. This internet is in turn fired by bandwidth. Bandwidth is the channel through which information is transmitted. The more information you choose to move, the more bandwidth capacity is consumed. Hence a video file takes up much more bandwidth space than an email.  With America’s penchant for the internet, bandwidth is now going into overuse. If thousands of Americans are plugging into the same bandwidth channel at any moment in time, transmission is bound to be delayed and could eventually even breakdown. To be fair bandwidth suppliers like Comcast and AT&T are investing millions of dollars in infrastructure upgrades. But the moot point is how much will be enough for the American appetite?
