The culture of United States encourages sports. The US differs from other countries when it comes to sports. The Americans have an exclusive set of sports. Many team sports like baseball, basketball, American football, ice hockey, etc. are very popular in the US while soccer is not as popular as it is in the rest of the world. Baseball is the oldest sport in American team sports. High media exposure is given to each of the sports.  The sports competitions in schools, colleges, as well as universities have a major role in the sporting culture of United States.
